Overtime

Overtime refers to hours worked over and above an employee's normal hours worked.

For each overtime rate, a separate Hours Type code is required. A Calculation Method to calculate the overtime loading may also be applicable and may need to be setup.

Each Hours Type code that is created for overtime, Classification of T will have to be assigned.

Hours Type Code Description Factor Classification
02 Overtime at time and a half 1.5000 T (Overtime)
03 Overtime at double time 2.0000 T (Overtime)
04 Overtime at double time and a half 2.5000 T (Overtime)
  • A record is created in the Calculation Methods window if the calculation of overtime is to include loading.
  • Overtime Hours Type codes are added into the Time Entry window.

Overtime Loading at a Different Rate

Two components of overtime hours can be paid at different rates.

Example:

For time and a half 1.5000 the normal time with a factor of 1.0 is paid at an overtime hourly rate of $8 and the half with a factor of .5000 is paid at a different overtime hourly rate of $10.00.

To setup overtime loading, a Calculation Method will have to be setup. This record must have a Classification of T and should have a minimum of two levels of calculation.

  1. The first level of calculation is for overtime to be calculated at the first rate.
  2. The second level of calculation is for overtime to be calculated at the loading rate.

If the calculation of overtime loading is to be allocated to a particular Hours Type or Allowance/Deduction code, the following will have to be specified in the Calculation Method:

  • In the Code for Loading field, specify the Hours Type or Allowance/Deduction code that overtime loading is to be allocated.
  • In the Code Type field, specified if the Code for Loading is an Hours Type H or an Allowance/Deduction A.

If a Code for Loading and a Code Type is not specified, the calculated overtime is allocated to the originating code.

  • The relevant Calculation Method in each employee's Other Payment Details window is specified using the Calculation Methods Overtime field.
