Output Crystal Report in PDF Format
Please contact your consultant if you wish to make use of this function
This function allows Extracts created as Crystal Reports to be distributed in .pdf format. These reports can then be viewed using Adobe Acrobat Reader which means users may view reports in Crystal format without having Crystal Reports installed on the PC.
The steps required to create Extracts and make them available to users in Crystal Reports format are:
- The Extract is created in Extractor with the output option set to Crystal Reports
- The Crystal Report is then created and tested
- The report is then saved in .pdf format
- The report is ready to be copied to the Report Server
Save Report in PDF Format
When the Crystal Report has been designed to your satisfaction, open Extractor, select the Crystal Report and open the Options tab.
Change the report format to PDF and save the report.
The report is ready to be copied to the Report Server so that it may be accessed by users.
The user can select the Extract in Extractor, run it and retrieve the information in Crystal Report format even though they may not have Crystal Reports installed on their PC.
Any security which has been attached to the user through Preceda's security profile functionality will be applied when the report is run.
By default, the report will be submitted to run as a background job and the Job Queue on which the extract will be run may be controlled. A Prevar setting *PP_RPTSVR_OPTIONS is used for this purpose.
The report may then be accessed through Extractor Console. Note that for all supported browsers (i.e. with or without Active X), the file will be opened in a new browser window.
