Pay Rate Code Descriptions
This screen supports the maintenance of pay rate positions to use across the system and the customisation of their descriptions.
Prerequisites
- Field Numbers (optional)
Rules and Guidelines
- Pay Rates 01 to 03 are pre-named. Nonetheless, they can be modified.
- Pay Rate 01 = Base Pay Rate
- Pay Rate 02 = Award Pay Rate
- Pay Rate 03 = Other Pay Rate
- By default, the number of pay rate positions is 8. If 8 is not enough to effectively manage employee's salary, you can add more consecutively. The system supports up to 60 pay rate positions.
- Clearing out a Description does not delete the pay rate position.
- Deleting the last available pay rate position is allowed unless it is pay rate 01.
- If you do not want to bear the risk of paying employees incorrectly, do not delete existing pay rate positions. Instead, add a prefix to the description to flag DNU (i.e. Do Not Use). The Pay Rate ID / Description will still appear on the corresponding screens (e.g. Salary), but users will less likely specify any rates against it.
-
Adding and Updating Rate Codes will also update the following prompt fields:
-
Leave Entitlements screen's Leave Liability Rate Code
-
Leave Accrual Method screen's Leave Liability Rate Code to Use
-
Allow/Deduct Codes screen's Use this Rate Instead of ASG
-
Hours Type Codes screen's Pay Rate to Use
-
Calculation Methods screen's Pay Rate to Use
-
Termination Pay screen's Base Pay Rate
-
Field Information

This is an auto-generated sequential number starting from '01' and up to '60'.

This can override the default pay rate code descriptions for pay rate positions 01 to 08. When users are allowed to add more pay rate positions to the system, specify a description toward the next available Rate Code and save.
