Work Pattern

  • Work Pattern is a framework of days and standard hours worked for a week attached to an employee.
  • Established work patterns are used extensively by the leave application processes in Self Service.
  • When an employee applies for leave, Self Service checks the employee's work pattern to calculate the number of hours/days the employee will be absent from work. This calculated figure is displayed on the Leave Application window and may be overridden by the employee if required.
  • If there is no work pattern allocated to the employee, Self Service uses the employee's Base Hours to perform this calculation.
  • If the employee changes the Hours/Days away from work figure, Self Service will immediately ignore the work pattern and accept what the employee has entered.
  • Before work patterns can be allocated to employees, they must first be setup by creating a Work Pattern code and set the pattern for the number of hours to be worked each day using the Work Pattern Details window.
  • Work patterns can be allocated to employees on a bulk basis based on a number of factors.
  • Work patterns can also be allocated to employees on a individual basis in the Payment Details window or during the Hire process.
  • Once allocated to an employee, a work pattern may be overridden on a individual basis to allow for changes.
