Navision

The Navision interface transfers job costing information accumulated from Preceda Time into the Navision application. The information transferred into Navision is in the form of employee times worked against work centres and job numbers. This information tracks job costings in order to calculate the costs of specific jobs.

Costing details are extracted from Preceda Time into a NAV.csv file in the format specified by the supplier of the Navision supplier. Connector is the primary tool used to initiate and transfer the file from Preceda Server into the necessary environment. Report Manager will be used to schedule the transfer.

 

Report Manager Setup

The following steps are used to setup Report Manager to periodically transfer job costing information from Preceda into the NAV.csv file.

1. From Report Manger, create a new task via Tools | Maintain Tasks | Create New task.
2. Set the Program name to PRE742 and the Type as Program.
3. While still in Report Manager, Create a New Package and attach the newly created task.
4. From the Output Tab, select the Distribution button.
5. Select the Collection Folder as the Distribution Method and change the file name to read NAV.csv. Check the Add a timestamp on file name box and select OK.
6. Select the Edit List button.
7. Select the New button and create a new subscriber, by entering the name and description.
8. From the Collection folder enter /preceda/download/xxxx (where xxx - preceda data library)
9. Select Save
10. Select the new subscribers from the displayed list.
