Unused Leave Summary

Unused Leave Summary is used to nominate leave balances to a specific period of accruals. When using Termination pay the values calculated are not automatically split into pre 78, 78 to 93, 93 to 96 and Post 96 areas. This window enables the accrual to be split in accordance with taxation laws of Pre and Post 18th August 1993, providing a base for the accrual to work from, thereby ensuring that the calculation of termination payments are accurate.

Rules and Guidelines

  • This option has no impact on Leave Balances that are calculated via the Leave Accruals process.
  • Employee Leave Balances record contain the total accruals value for the employee which includes any value held in the Unused Leave Summary record.
  • To use this option correctly ensure all employees have accurate details entered on their leave records.
  • If employees' employment records predate the use of Preceda, annual leave, long service leave and sick leave owing are entered manually against each employee.
  • The Unused Annual Leave section lists the types of leave and the different components that make up the leave according to the Taxation requirement for Termination Pay.
  • It also lists a Reduction Sequence for taken leave where the order in which areas are affected has been nominated.
  • Within each area the entitlement value is always reduced first, followed by the Pro-rata balance.
  • The January 1996 period for Leave Accrual has resulted from legislation introduced in Victoria and applies only to that state.
  • When an employee's leave is processed through the Payrun, the Unused Leave Balances and the Leave Balances are reduced.
  • Any Unused Leave Balances entered into the system do not affect the current leave accrual balances for an employee.
  • Rebanks do not affect Unused Leave Balances. Any Leave being Rebanked reduces the Leave Accruals but not the Unused Leave Balances, which will have to be maintained manually.

Field Information

Unused - Annual Leave

The unused net entitlement leave accrued as at August 1993.

The unused net Pro-rata leave accrued as at August 1993.

The sequence that the August 1993 unused leave balance is to be reduced when annual leave is paid via the Payrun.

Sick Leave

The Pre 1/96 Pro-Rata and Pre 1/96 Reduction sequence field are not used for Sick Leave.

The Pre 8/78 Pro-Rata field is not used for Long Service Leave.

Unused net entitlement leave accrued as at August 1978.
