Access Profiles

Access Profiles define what a user can see and do in the Preceda application, i.e. this is preferable when there is a need for particular users full access to a Module, while excluding another set of users from selected windows/reports in a Module.

The modules defined for security relate to each of the menu options on the Navigator. The objects within each module relate to the various windows, procedures and reports which can be accessed within each Navigator option.

The module security feature allows all Preceda users access to all modules by default. To implement Module security four steps are involved Preparation and Planning, Define Users, Define Access Profiles and Link User to Access Profile.

Before implementation of this Security system, decide who is to have complete access to all parts of the system. This would normally be restricted to systems administration staff only.

Decide if you have groups of users who may be given exactly the same security level. Remember that a group security, once created, cannot be modified on an individual basis. The ability of user to access information through Extractor must be carefully considered.
