Links

This field displays an identification that describes the link.

This is the location path or address used to find the document or location.

• These Locations may or may not be on the same server used to run Preceda.
• When entering locations for files, the following should be considered depending on where the files being accessed are located.

If accessing files on a network drive the location is specified using the following format:

\\server80\develop\my folder

When specified the location the following should be noted:

• Back slashes are used with this type of location.
• There is no back slash at the end of the folder name.
• Spaces are allowed.
• The word server is preceded by two back slashes (the word server in this case is not absolute - your network may be called V81 for example, this would become \\V81\Folder)
• There is no drive letter name used.

If accessing files from the System on which Preceda runs, the location can be specified in one of two ways:

1. Use the format /My Folder/Images
2. Use the format http://www.v8machine.com.au/My Folder/Images

The following should be noted:

• Both formats use forward slashes.
• When using option one, the folder name is preceded by one forward slash.
• When using option two, the http is followed immediately by :// This part of the format is not optional.
• There is no trailing slash in either format.
• Spaces are allowed.

The second format uses the familiar www.machine.com syntax for specifying the machine name. The IP address of the machine you are calling can be used in stead, e.g. http://192.0.0.1/Preceda.d50

 

This is a description name for the link which is shown as the link on the SelfService Welcome Page.

Specify the exact name of the image that will appear next to the link.

• No path name is required as the image must reside in a specific area.
• At least one of either Name or Image must be entered.
• The image must reside in the images theme directory on the System for it to be available within the Links window.
  <system name>/preceda/<partition id>/selfserv/images/<theme folder name>
  The words in <italic> must be replaced with your system values to ensure the graphics are placed in the correct location (e.g. server/preceda/p10/selfserv/images/demo).

Enter a detailed description of the link.

• This appears in the Self Service Welcome window if selected.

 

This field specifies the order of appearance of the links on the SelfService Welcome Page.

This field displays the Group Profiles that will have access to this link.
